Cultural Inversion

He explains the theory of social Inversion through you tube , this is my understanding of the subject and some Notes
You tube is a good example of participation media, it creates a new type of community and to communicate with people in a different way. People can collaborate online without being near.
We can have user generated filtering that directs people to what others see as worthwhile.
The loss of community in the real world has lead to people looking for a community on the web. It allows networked individualism.
The interenet has allowed for many wierd social phenomenoms
Cultural Inversion can cover the contradiction of:
Express Value
Indiviualism Commercalism
Independence Relationships
Commercialization Authenticity
It has lead to the collapse of context, it allows us to be alone, but not. As if everybody is watching,but nobody is there. What was once one of the most private spaces such as someones bedroom can become one of the most public as millions view it.
The Internet gives a mask of Anonymity, this combinded with physical distance and rare ephimeral dialouge gives us Freedom. Allowing connection without constraint. This leads to many problems such as abuse that would not be tolerated in a real social situation but is acceptable on within these communities.
